Texture

Texture is the overall quality of a work. Often referring to the number of voices and how they interact.

• Monophony: One melody line
• Polyphony: Melody in more than one line; with or without accompanying chords
• Homophony: A melody accompanied by chords
• Heterophony: Two or more versions of the same melody
